THE 2012 AURION looks to usher in Toyota’s new ‘ERA Concept’, combining both ‘Emotional’ and ‘Rational’ appeals, having taken customers’ demands into account.
With a quieter ride, a spacious interior, enhanced fuel economy and advanced utility features, the new Aurion comes with a refreshed look.
The car comes in two grades: Sports and Grande. Fitted with a sport tuned suspension, sport seats with enhanced support, a newly designed three spoke steering, F1 inspired paddle shifters, and an exclusive exterior design with front grille and sporty front and rear bumper spoilers, the Aurion Sports is aimed at the performance enthusiasts looking for excellent handling dynamics.
The Aurion Grande, one of the most popular sedans among UAE nationals, is designed for those who want a safe, spacious, reliable, and luxurious ride that transports families and friends in style. With a leather trim, seven-inch touch navigation & DVD Player, Bi-Xenon lights with intelligent AFS and headlamp cleaner and eight-way memory seats for the driver, the Aurion Grande is affordable lavishness incarnate.
The three principles of vehicle character, rationality and aerodynamic performance have been combined into an active, sporty form to realise the prestigious appeal of the new Aurion’ s exterior.
The vehicle features several changes to the exterior. The grille has been reworked with thin, long headlamps on either side emphasising this change and adding an impression of width. The 17-inch wheels come with a detailed finish that give the impression of a wider diameter and provide a feeling of advanced luxury.
The interior has also been revamped, with an emphasis on luxury and quality, creating a personalised appearance. The feeling of quality is improved, with real leather stitching around the vehicle, and curved wood grain and silver accents create a sense of functional beauty and high-quality. Chrome accenting on the air conditioning vents and audio controls complete the sense of prestige.
The 2012 Aurion will be available with the choice of a six-speed sequential automatic transmission, coming with a 3.5-litre engine and a maximum output of 268hp, delivering a powerful driving experience. A newly adopted ECO meter allows the driver to recognise when he or she is driving in a fuel efficient and economical manner. VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) and TRC (Traction Control) technologies have also been equipped to support vehicle stability, along with HID (High Intensity Discharge Headlamps) for improved nighttime visibility.
The Toyota comes with new utility features such as a Parking Assist system, which alerts the driver when approaching obstacles in blind spots. It also has a new audio system with a 6.1-inch display for the Sport and a seven-inch display for the Grande, a USB/AUX Terminal for external audio devices, advanced Bluetooth communication compatibility, keyless entry, dual-zone air conditioning, and a back window power sunshade.
The Aurion comes in nine exterior colours and is available across all Al-Futtaim Motors showroom at Dhs115,000 for the Sports model and Dhs125,000 for the Grande.
The Middle East’s first specialist retailer of luxury Recreational Vehicles (RVs), Gulf Coast RVs has opened its doors in Dubai on Sheikh Zayed Road, offering a premium range of motorhomes, travel trailers and caravans.
Customers can choose from a wide range of luxury motorhomes, caravans and travel trailers, representing some of the top brands in the US. The UAE-based company offers seven principal types of RVs, including self-driven, deluxe motorhomes, well-appointed travel trailers and lightweight caravans.
Oman’s Team Qadiroon, made up of Azzan Abdul Amir Hameed, Faisal Fadhil Mahmood Al Bakri and Issam Abdullah Said Al-Kharusi, is the winning team of the Ford Focus Rabaa inter-GCC Rally challenge, as announced by Ford Middle East after the conclusion of the final rally challenge in Dubai’s Burj Khalifa. Al-Yaqdan Alhooti, an avid supporter of the challenge who scored the most points in the online challenges also won in the “Pit Crew” or Ford Focus Rabaa Fan category. All winning team members and Al-Yaqdan Alhooti will receive a brand new 2012 Ford Focus model as their prize.
Scoring 395 points, Team Qadiroon emerged on top of the leaderboard. With earnest support from fans, Team Qadiroon garnered crucial points to help seal its position in the number one spot.
In second place came Team I.C.T. from Qatar with a score of 360 points, closely followed by Team Bahrain Youth Lions in third place with 350 points, and Team Bura Bura with a score of 235.
The Ford Focus Rabaa [referring to a gang of friends in Khaleeji dialect] took teams through each of the Gulf states to compete in a series of tasks and challenges while driving across the countries. The teams were scored based on their skills and performance rather than speed. The level of online and offline participation and support of their country’s fans also played an important role in the scoring as fans were able to take online challenges to help their team get more points.
As part of its commitment towards innovative education, Mercedes-Benz Middle East has chosen to sponsor the Safire Racing Team from the German School in Dubai for the Formula One Technology Challenge in Schools in its latest edition.
The Formula One Technology Challenge in Schools is the world’s leading multi-disciplinary challenge for 9-19 year-old students, involving 22 countries. While acquiring the franchise in the UAE, Yas Marina circuit hosts an invitational national final of the competition for the second year in a row for school teams, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi.
Among the participating teams the Mercedes-Benz-backed Safire Racing team will be competing in the challenge, seeking to book one of the two places for who will represent the UAE at 2012 World Championship.
F1 in Schools challenges students to use software to design, build and race a miniature Formula 1 car made from balsa wood and powered by a single compressed air cylinder. Working in teams of three to six, the students should also prepare a business plan, develop a marketing strategy and make a presentation to a panel of judges.
