TURKISH INITIATIVE ‘CHILDREN’S Day’ will be celebrated this year in Dubai on Friday, April 27.
Celebrated every year on April 23 in Turkey, the UNICEF-recognised day is dedicated to youngsters, their role as the leaders of tomorrow, and promoting cultural understanding.
This Friday’s celebration in the UAE, held under the patronage of the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey, will take place at the American University in Dubai from 2pm to 4.30pm. It will feature musical and artistic folklore performances by children from various Dubai schools, as well as guest group performing three regional Turkish dances - Zeybek, Ciftetelli and Edirne.
Tickets cost Dhs30 and are available at Turkish Business Council before the event and at the American University in Dubai on the day.
Proceeds from last year totalled Dhs90,000 and were donated to the Dubai Autism Center, and this year the same charity will once again benefit from the event.
