AB de Villiers smashed an unbeaten 47 off 17 balls to power Royal Challengers Bangalore to a five-wicket victory over Deccan Chargers in an Indian Premier League match here on Sunday. Chasing 182 for victory, the Bangalore team reached the target with seven balls remaining.
Tillakaratne Dilshan gave a splendid start, smashing 71 from 54 balls, while Chris Gayle scored 26. Following a middle-order slump, Deccan had the upper hand before de Villers changed the match situation with superb hitting. Mayank Agarwal chipped in with a useful 18 off six balls to give Bangalore momentum.
Earlier, Dhawan carried his bat through, cracking 10 fours and one six in his 52-ball innings after Bangalore’s stand-in skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field.
