Cricket and corruption
(Venkatca, Dubai) / 17 May 2012
There is corruption all around the world and cricket is no exception. When there is disparity between poor and rich, exploitation is there. Some poor react by fraud, stealing or corrupt practices. Rich may have become rich by swindling the exchequer but are considered as eminent persons in
the society.Poor cricketers may be forced by the franchise for getting favours either through match-fixing or spot-fixing. It can be termed as the 2G scam of cricket. Only cricket has been kept out of Ministry of Sports but the association is headed by politicians. All the political parties have a common interest in cricket whether BJP or Congress.
The BCCI does not come under RTI act as an all party governing council runs it. With Black money and betting which is the key in the game of cricket many a time, I feel it is difficult for the cricketers to be above-board and come out clean.
Franchise should be punished along with the cricketers. Poor cricketer’s career is lost but franchises keep making money.
