LE TOUQUET, France — Eight-time Olympic field hockey champions India thrashed France 4-0 in a warm-up match for the July 27-August 12 London Games here on Saturday.
The trouncing followed an 8-2 victory the Indians notched up over the French on Thursday.
VR Raghunath opened the scoring for the visitors in the 12th minute and Sandeep Singh extended the lead before two goals from Sandar Singh and Mujtaba Danish in the second-half sealed a second comfortable victory in two days.
India have won more Olympic field hockey gold medals than any other country, although the last of their triumphs came in 1980 and they return to the contest in the British capital after failing to qualify for the 2008 Beijing Games.
They are drawn with defending champions Germany, South Korea, New Zealand, Belgium and the Netherlands in Pool B of the group stage.
Pool A comprises Australia, Argentina, Spain, Great Britain, Pakistan and South Africa.
