Salem, Shloka win Summer Series opener

KT Report / 1 July 2012

DUBAI ó Alan Salem and Shloka Desai finished on top in the menís and womenís sections of the Dubai Golf Summer Series Fixture One supported by Footjoy.

The Montgomerie and Emirates Golf Club member fired a blistering 43 points over the Majlis course, a gross 78.

A consistent card included two birdies on the 11th and 13th, if it wasn’t for a triple bogey 7 on the par four 16th it would have been an even more impressive tally.

On a day of low scoring over the Karl Litten designed course, Jai Bhalla and George Fitchet signed for 42 points, 6-under par, it was Fitchet who took runners-up place with a better back nine.

The women’s section was also a tight contest with the Desai sisters, Shloka and Aashaka, both carding 36 points. Shloka took the prize following her 16 points on the inward half. Tony Azoulay followed his third place finish in the Summer Open the week before by clinching best gross of the day with a level par 72.

Also in the prizes from the 103-strong field were Trevor Belcher and Li Shui Hua following their accuracy off the tee on the nearest the pin prize holes, the 7th and 11th respectively.

The title sponsor of the 4 fixture series is Pro Sports and the next leg of the series is at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club on Saturday 14th July, 1:30pm shot gun start. The competitor with the highest points tally for three rounds wins the series.

Readers wishing to enter any of the fixtures can contact the golf office at Emirates Golf Club at golfoffice@dubaigolf.com
